In the stunning imperial gardens, just moments from the Forbidden City, our partner school is located in the palace of culture building, in the heart of the Tartar town of Mandchous, one of the last vestiges of old Peking. The school’s classrooms are spacious and bright, and have views of the gardens. A genuine haven of peace and refinement, the park with its hundred-year-old trees is ideal for walking, chatting, or studying some of the ideograms in the shade of the ancient pavilions. Internet access is available in the cafeteria, a place to relax that you will appreciate during the lunch break. The small size of the classes (maximum 8 students) will allow you to study Mandarin intensively, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A few minutes away on foot, you will find Wangfujing, the most animated shopping street of the city, as well as the immense Tiananmen Square and the train station of the same name, to take you to the four corners of the prestigious “Northern capital”.

Residence
Our partner school's residence is situated in the Xidan district which is 3 metro stations, that being 10/15 minutes away from the school. In a very calm area whilst being at the heart of Beijing, you will stay in a single room with a private bathroom and will shaer the living room with the other students. Meals (breakfast and lunchI are taken in the school's cafeteria on days when classes take place. You can also book a double room if you come with another student.

Much more than a city, Beijing is a world in itself. Of the former Khanbaliq, Marco Polo said this "You must know that the city of Cambaluc hath such a multitude of houses, and such a vast population inside the walls and outside, that it seems quite past all possibility [...]  To this city also are brought articles of greater cost and rarity, than to any other city in the world." The enthusiastic report of the Venetian is still applied today.

Beijing has a past stretching over many millenia, an incredible range of tourist, cultural and historic attractions and, at the same time, a pulsating activity that never seems to stop. There are so many things to discover during your afternoons following a tennis match in front of the Imperial Temple. A wide-ranging programme in view among the 9999 chambers of the Purple City, the magnificent Palace gardens in summer or the Temple of Heaven to quote only the most famous. Very inexpensive, public transport is a great way of crossing through Beijing and its surroundings. The Great Wall is only 60km away from the centre and in the evening, in order to taste a Mandarin Fish or to go out with your friends, head for Wangfujing…
